Glowing text, neon signs, fire, smoke, lightning, sparks — clips like these are almost always made on a black background, which a video editor then simply “switches off”. In a Telegram sticker, a black box around the text looks out of place. You can remove it right on the website or in the bot, no video editor needed.
Why regular background removal doesn't fit here
The background-removal AI looks for the main subject in the frame — a person, an animal, an object. To it, glow, smoke and fire are background: glowing text turns into dark outlines, letters break up, and neighboring frames differ, so the sticker flickers. Graphics on black have their own option — “Black background”.
It works differently: everything black becomes transparent, bright parts stay, and glow, smoke and reflections become semi-transparent, just like in the original. In Telegram's dark theme the sticker looks exactly like the video; in the light theme it looks like a neon decal. Nothing flickers: every frame is processed the same way.

“White background” works the same way in reverse: white becomes transparent and dark parts stay. It suits hand-drawn sketches, text and logos on white.
How to remove a black background on the website
- Upload a video or GIF to vidsticker.com or paste a link to a clip, and pick a part up to 3 seconds long.
- Open the Background tab and pick Black background (or White background).
- Tap Make sticker. Empty edges are trimmed automatically, so the text fills the whole sticker.
How to remove a black background in the bot
Write “remove black background” in the caption of the video — or “remove white background”. Or send the video as is and tap ✂️ ⬛ Black background or ✂️ ⬜ White background under the finished sticker. The sticker in your pack is replaced automatically.
Good to know
- The background has to be truly black (or white). Dark gray goes away too, but if the video's background is light, the site will say this option doesn't fit and suggest another one.
- Dark parts inside the text become semi-transparent. Deep shadows and dark blue edges look lighter in Telegram's light theme than on black. That's normal for glowing graphics — video editors show them the same way.
- Need to keep something black — say, a black cat or a person in dark clothes? Then pick the AI, “People, animals and objects”: the “Black background” option makes dark parts transparent.

Is it free?
Yes. Black and white backgrounds are removed for free and without limits: no AI is needed for that.
Can I remove a green background (chroma key)?
Not yet — only black and white. For people and animals on any background there's the AI: a sticker without a background.
Why is the text paler in the light theme?
The glow is semi-transparent: on black it adds up with the background just like in the original video, while on white it's less visible. The bright middle of the text stays opaque.
What if the video's background is already transparent?
Then there's nothing to remove — the transparency is kept. Send such a GIF or WEBM to the bot as a file (paperclip → File), otherwise Telegram turns it into a regular video.
