How to send any video as a round video message in Telegram

Telegram lets you record a round video message only with the camera, right in the chat: the app won't send an existing video from your gallery as a round one. But a round video is just a square video, and you can make one from any clip in a minute. Below are two ways: the bot and the website.

What a round video message is

A round video message — a video message, or video note — is a short video that Telegram shows in a circle and plays right in the chat. It has its own rules:

• up to 1 minute — Telegram won't accept a longer one;
• a square frame — the circle is cut from a square, so a vertical video gives you the middle of the frame, or the part you choose;
• with sound — unlike stickers, the sound is kept;
• you can forward it to any chat, group or channel, like a normal message.

Option 1. In the bot — from your phone in a minute

1. Open the bot @vidsticker_bot and tap “Start”.
2. Send it a video or a YouTube, TikTok, X, Reddit or Vimeo link. If you don't want to start from the beginning, add the moment in the caption, e.g. “from 0:15”.
3. The bot first turns the video into a sticker — that's its main job. Under the sticker, tap ⭕ Round video: a few seconds later the bot sends a round video from the chosen moment — up to a minute, with sound.
4. Forward the round video wherever you wanted to send it.

To make it look like your own. When you forward a message, Telegram labels it “Forwarded from…”. Before sending, tap the forwarded message above the input field and choose “Hide sender name” — the recipient sees just the round video.

The ⏪ 1 s, 1 s ⏩ and 3 s ⏭ buttons under the sticker shift the starting moment — after shifting, tap ⭕ Round video again. Bots can receive files up to 20 MB — that's Telegram's limit for bots. Upload bigger videos on the website.

Option 2. In the editor on the website — precise trimming

The website is handier when the video is big (up to 200 MB) or you want to pick the clip and the frame precisely.

1. Open vidsticker.com and drag a video into the window, or click it and choose a file. MP4, MOV, WEBM and GIF all work.
2. At the top of the settings panel, switch from “Sticker” to Round video.
3. On the frame strip, select up to a minute: drag the window and pull its edges.
4. On the preview, move and resize the circle — that part of the frame goes into the round video.
5. Press Make round video. Round videos are sent by the bot, so the site asks you to log in with Telegram — the button at the top. The finished round video appears in your chat with the bot, and you can forward it from there.

The same editor is available inside Telegram: in the chat with the bot, tap the Editor button at the bottom — the mini app opens, and you don't need to log in separately.

Which videos work

• Any format: MP4, MOV, WEBM, GIF, phone videos and round videos from other chats.
• Vertical and horizontal: the round video takes a square from the middle of the frame, and on the website you can move it.
• HDR video from an iPhone is converted to normal colors — the round video won't look washed out or overexposed.
• Long videos are fine: choose where to start, and the round video takes up to a minute.
• A video from a link — YouTube, TikTok, X, Reddit or Vimeo — no need to download it. For personal use only: the rights stay with the video's author.
