How to crop and trim a video for a sticker

A video for a sticker is cut in two ways: in time — Telegram accepts video stickers up to 3 seconds — and in space, to drop what's around the edges and bring the subject closer. In the online editor and in @vidsticker_bot it takes a couple of moves.

Trim in time: pick the moment

Crop: cut the edges with a frame

  1. Upload a video on the website and open the Frame tab.
  2. Tap “⛶ Crop” — a frame appears over the video.
  3. Drag the corners to resize the frame and drag the frame itself to put it on the subject. Everything outside is dimmed — it won't be in the sticker.
  4. Tap “Make sticker”. The sticker keeps the frame's proportions: the long side is 512 px, as Telegram requires.
A wide video → a frame around the subject

The Square and Circle shapes turn the frame on by themselves — a square one. You can move and resize it too.

The bot has no frame: tap “✏️ Open in the editor” under the sticker — the same video opens in the editor inside Telegram; crop it there and make the sticker again.

Tips

Questions and answers

Why isn't my sticker square?

A sticker keeps the proportions of the frame or the video. Need a square — choose the Square shape: the frame becomes square.

Can I trim a video in the bot?

In time — yes, with the caption “from 0:05” or “5–7” and the buttons under the sticker. With a frame — in the editor: the “✏️ Open in the editor” button.

Can a sticker be longer than 3 seconds?

No, that's Telegram's limit. But you can speed the video up: “×2” and “×3” fit 6 or 9 seconds.

My video is horizontal, but I want a vertical sticker

Crop with a narrow tall frame — the sticker becomes vertical: 512 px high, as wide as the frame.

Is it free?

Yes, with no channel subscriptions and no ads.
