How to make a Telegram sticker from a GIF

A GIF from Telegram, a website or your gallery can become a real sticker: it moves and lives in your sticker pack. Telegram won't take the GIF itself as a sticker — video stickers must be WEBM. Converting by hand is fiddly, but @vidsticker_bot and the online editor do it for you.

How to make a sticker from a GIF with the bot

1. Open @vidsticker_bot and tap Start.
2. Send the GIF any way you like: from your gallery with the paperclip 📎, from Telegram's GIF panel or by forwarding it from any chat. Send a transparent GIF as a file — File in the paperclip menu — otherwise Telegram turns it into a video without transparency.
3. In the caption you can ask for “no bg” (“anime” for drawn ones), “circle”, “boomerang” or an emoji for the sticker, like 😂.
4. In 10–30 seconds the bot sends the sticker and adds it to your pack. Effect, shape and background can be changed later with the buttons under the sticker.

How to make a sticker from a GIF online

1. Open vidsticker.com and upload the GIF — tap “Drop a video, GIF or photo here” or drag the file into the window.
2. GIF longer than 3 seconds? Pick the moment with the window on the frame strip. A short one fits whole.
3. Use the tabs for shape and frame, speed and effect, text and background.
4. Tap “Make sticker”. Download it or log in with Telegram and add it to your pack.

Where to get a GIF

• Right in Telegram. In the chat with the bot, tap the sticker icon next to the message field, open the GIF tab, search for the one you want and send it to the bot — it turns it into a sticker.
• From a chat. Like a friend's GIF? Forward it to the bot.
• From a website or your gallery. Save the GIF and upload it on the website or send it to the bot.

If the GIF is longer than 3 seconds

Transparency and background

• A transparent GIF stays transparent — the sticker has no background. Just send it as a file.
