Why a new sticker doesn't show up in Telegram

The sticker is ready, the bot sent the link — but it's not in your sticker panel. Almost always it's Telegram's cache, and restarting the app fixes it. Below are all the causes, starting with the most common.

1. Telegram shows an old copy of the pack

Telegram keeps packs on your device and doesn't refresh them right away. The new sticker is already in the pack, but the app shows the old copy. Restart Telegram completely:

The bot reminds you of this under every pack link, and the website does after “Add to pack”.

2. The pack isn't added to Telegram

Your first sticker creates the pack, but the pack only gets into your panel once you add it. Open the t.me/addstickers/… link from the bot's message and tap Add Stickers — once. Lost the link? Send /packs to the bot: it sends links to all your packs.

3. The pack was removed from the panel or archived

4. The sticker isn't ready yet

If the bot hasn't sent the finished sticker, it isn't in the pack. A video with background removal takes up to a minute. If the bot replied with an error — say, the file is too big — do what it suggests: send a shorter video or upload it on the website. No reply at all — wait a minute and send it again.

5. The sticker is there, but it doesn't move

6. The sticker isn't suggested by emoji

Telegram suggests a sticker when you type its emoji in a message. Check which emoji the sticker has: on the website — “My stickers”, select the sticker. And check the Stickers and Emoji settings: sticker suggestions by emoji must be on.

7. The pack is full

A pack holds up to 120 stickers and up to 200 emoji — Telegram's limits. Create a new pack with /newpack Name. How packs work

Questions and answers

How long until the sticker shows up?

Right after you restart Telegram. Without a restart the app may refresh the pack on its own, but there's no telling when.

My friend can't see the new sticker

They have a cache too: they should restart Telegram. A sticker you send them shows up in the chat right away.

A sticker disappeared from my pack

A sticker deleted in “My stickers” or with a command in @Stickers disappears for everyone who added the pack. The only way back is to make it again.

Why doesn't the sticker show up on my computer?

Telegram Desktop caches packs too: quit the app completely and start it again.
