LINE Creators Market: how to make and sell your own stickers

LINE Creators Market is LINE's own store for independent sticker makers. Anyone with a LINE account can register for free, upload a set of stickers, pass a review and sell the set in the LINE Sticker Shop. Here's the whole path for animated stickers: making the files from your own video, submitting the set, getting through the review and getting paid.

What you need before you start

How to make animated LINE stickers from a video

  1. Open vidsticker.com/line and upload a video, a GIF or a photo. Use your own footage: LINE won't accept material you don't have the rights to.
  2. Pick 1–2 seconds with one clear emotion on the frame strip. LINE allows only 20 frames, so a 2-second clip plays at 10 frames per second, and a shorter one looks smoother.
  3. On the Background tab, choose “People, animals and objects”: LINE requires a transparent background. On the Style tab you can add a white outline, and on the Text tab a short caption.
  4. Press “Make sticker”, then “Download sticker · APNG”. The file already fits LINE's limits, so there's nothing to convert.
  5. Repeat for every sticker in the set. On your best one, also press “Main image” and “Tab icon”: you need those once per set.
Video → background removed, white outline → APNG sticker for LINE

Sticker sizeup to 320×270, one side at least 270, even numbers

File sizeup to 1 MB per sticker; up to 60 MB if you upload a ZIP

Two things catch people out. The first frame is what the shop shows as a still picture, so start on your best expression. And a file whose frames are all the same fails at upload, so don't pick a moment with no movement. Files from our LINE page meet the size, frame, loop and weight limits automatically. A still set is a separate type: 8 to 40 PNGs up to 370×320, with a margin of about 10 pixels. The full rules are in LINE's guidelines.

How to submit your set

  1. Register as a creator. On creator.line.me, press “Register Here” and sign in with your LINE email and password. Fill in the form (choose “Individual” if you're not a company) and confirm your email. Then sign in again to open My Page.
  2. Start a new set. Press “New Submission” and choose animated stickers.
  3. Fill in the text. Title up to 40 characters, description up to 160, creator name and copyright up to 50 each. English is required, and you can add 11 more languages. Buyers see the one that matches their device, or English.
  4. Upload the images. Each sticker goes into its slot, along with the main image and the tab icon. If your stickers contain photos or video frames, select “Does include photos”.
  5. Choose a price and regions. The price comes from LINE's list, and by default the set goes on sale wherever LINE offers it. You can limit it to selected countries.
  6. Request the review. Press “Request” and accept the terms. LINE says a review takes about 2 days and sometimes only a few hours (its figure from 2024).
  7. Release. Once the set is approved, press “Release”, and it goes on sale in the Sticker Shop and LINE STORE.

How to pass the review

LINE checks every set against its review guidelines. The ones that matter most for stickers made from video:

If a set is rejected, the reason appears in My Page → Message Center, though LINE says it may not always be specific. Open the set in Manage Items, press Edit, fix it and press Request again. Check everything before you submit: once a set is approved, its images can't be changed, and new text needs another review.

Prices and payouts

LINE says some creators earn hundreds of thousands of yen a month, but it guarantees nothing, and the amounts above come from its FAQ, which can change.

Can I use my stickers without selling them?

Not for free: LINE doesn't allow free distribution, so a set has to go on sale and buyers pay for it. That includes you: a set made through Creators Market has to be bought by its creator too. If the set is only for family and friends, choose “Hide in LINE STORE/Sticker Shop” in the privacy settings. It disappears from lists and search but can still be bought through a direct link.

LINE's own phone app, LINE Sticker Maker, also makes stickers from photos and videos, and lets you download your own set for free. Sets from the app earn nothing unless you turn on paid downloads with a revenue share. vidsticker suits you better if you work on a computer or want filters and motion effects.

FAQ

Is LINE Creators Market free?

Yes, registration and submitting a set are free. LINE earns its share only when a set sells.

What size should a LINE sticker be?

An animated sticker is an APNG up to 320×270 with one side at least 270, 5–20 frames, up to 4 seconds and 1 MB. A still sticker is a PNG up to 370×320. The main image is 240×240, the tab icon 96×74.

How long does the review take?

About 2 days, and sometimes a few hours, according to LINE's figure from 2024. A rejected set has to go through review again.

Can I sell stickers from any country?

Anyone with a LINE account can register. Payouts are the limit: outside Japan and Thailand you need a PayPal Premier or Business account, and without PayPal in your country you can't receive your share.

Can I make LINE stickers from a photo?

Yes. A photo gives a still sticker, a PNG up to 370×320, for a still set. Add bounce or pulse on the Motion tab and it becomes an animated sticker.

Can I use anime characters or celebrities?

Not without a license: the set won't pass the review. Your own videos, photos and drawings are fine, and anyone else in them has to agree.

Can I change stickers after release?

No, the images can't be changed once a set is approved. The text can be updated, but that needs another review.

Is vidsticker free for this?

Yes, with no watermark and no ads. Without signing in you can make 5 stickers a day, so a set of 8 takes two days; signing in removes the limit. vidsticker isn't affiliated with LINE.
